Interior Design Ideas

As much as we love to talk all things brick tiles, we are well aware that our influence through expertise is ever growing.

So with that thought in mind we though we would share with you some ideas..

You do not need to be a professional to be good at interior design. In fact, the vast majority of interior designers working today were actually self taught.

Much knowledge can be found in books magazines as well as online tutorials and off-course current trend blogs. There is a wealth of knowledge and information out there to start you on your interior design journey.

All this being said, as writers, manufacturers, sellers and professors of all things brick slips we thought we would give our top tips for budding Interior Designers.

Texture and layers are Fundamental

A blank canvass can be very clean looking and crisp, but offers very little in the way of interest. Texture layering is key to creating the most iconic looking spaces.

Our tip would be to combine rough and smooth, shiny and matt as well as textiles and patterns. Create a recipe for the room with the ingredients you like.

Make it your home

One often overlooked points is making the space homely. You need to inject you into the room, be it pictures, photographs. Murals or even plants and plant life. All these things bring real life into a space and create a more homelike feel.

Artwork

You do not need to be massively cultured to appreciate art, art is subjective and is very personal. Injecting artwork into a design helps again to amplify your own personality within an interior design.

Artwork is also becoming more and more available and accessible. Prints also make for a much cheaper option to originals.

Furniture and Dimensional accents

Book cases, units and shelves all add to the 3D look of a room. Try arranging shelve in a way that creates interest and focus, you could play around with scale and height to stop the room looking one dimensional.

Consider lighting

Consider different forms of lighting; table lamps, floor lamps, fairy lights and pendants, to give definition to your room.

You can create small atmospheric pockets of light around the room rather than just having one ceiling light illuminating the whole space.

Interior Design is personal – Be you!

Our final tip is to just be you, choose what you like and choose what makes you happy. The space has to be enjoyed and the room has to be a balance of your likes and functionality.

Create a space you love by adding what you love.
